Wizards return home after bump on the roadPosted on January 11, 2014
One loss does not spoil a week away from home, and the Wizards showed promise early before succumbing to the Pacers' defense in a 93-66 loss Friday in Indianapolis.
The Friday story. LISTEN:
"You have to learn from it. We put ourselves a position in the first half to win the game. You just have to make plays. That’s what it boils down to. We didn’t give ourselves a chance in the second half to win the game. It boils down to your top players making plays in games like this. That’s all it is. Hopefully we’ll learn from it (the loss). We play them one more time at our place and hopefully that sticks.”
Again, one loss does not diminish the teamwork on display as captured in this wonderful montage from Julia Buchmaier: Teamwork - LISTEN:
Now the challenge for the Wizards is the high-scoring Houston Rockets, who lost 83-80 in Atlanta last night. The Rockets have been averaging over 105 points per game. Unlike what the Wizards dealt with on Friday with the Pacers and their slow-grinding style, the Rockets will be looking for a high-possession, up-tempo game.
The key matchup will be Marcin Gortat and Dwight Howard. Gortat started his NBA career as the back up to Howard in Orlando.
Don't forget All Access tonight at 6 on 106.7 FM, 1500 AM, and 820 AM. This week's show we have a European flavor with a review of Jan Vesely's recent surge and a fascinating interview with Marcin Gortat.
