Rice and Porter hit it big in Las VegasPosted on July 21, 2014 by Glenn Consor
The 2014 NBA Summer League turned out to be an important vehicle for Otto Porter and Glen Rice. Both of these young players gained a ton of confidence carrying the Wizards Summer League team to the quarterfinals and displaying skills for Randy Wittman to observe for the upcoming season.
As Glen Rice captured MVP of the 2014 NBA Summer League, Glen displayed a relentless scoring mentality averaging 25 PPG, with the ability to create his own shot with a much improved motor. He will have to work on his ball-handling and shot selection, but all young scorers are in the same boat. The Wizards want him to keep that "scoring fire."
Otto's game gained so much confidence in Vegas, he really looked like a different player; aggressive offensively and defensively, and displaying his ability to make threes and attack the basket to get into the paint. Otto will be able to win games for the Wizards not by scoring 25 PPG; he is your classic contributing intangible player that will win games on a steal, defensive stop, or tip-in at the buzzer.
I would love to get your thoughts on how these two much improved players will fit into the Wizards' season, and how much this confidence gained will translate into the regular season.
