On a Big Stage the Wizards Eager to Steal the ShowPosted on April 09, 2013 by Dave Johnson

To reach 29 wins, the Washington Wizards have compiled an impressive resume including victories over every NBA division leader except San Antonio. In their quest for their first 30-win season since 2008, the Wizards will try to add to that resume with a win in New York against the Knicks.
It won’t be easy. The Wizards this season have enjoyed the role of giant-killer, but most of their success against the NBA’s elite teams has come at home. There have been exceptions including the Wizards' first win in Denver since 2006 and first win in Los Angeles against the Lakers since 2006.
To add to the challenge, the Knicks are the NBA’s hottest team with a 12-game winning streak. Carmelo Anthony is the NBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week. Over four games last week Anthony averaged 41.8 points per game and is the first Knick to score over 40 points in three consecutive wins since Bernard King.
Anthony tied his career best with 50 points last week against Miami. In a win over the Thunder he scored 36 to Kevin Durant’s 27. Anthony now has the scoring lead over Durant in the NBA at 28.4 points per game. For the week, Anthony shot almost 61 percent from the field, 56 percent from three-point distance, and made 86 percent of his free throws.

Coverage of the Wizards and Knicks from New York begins at 7:15 on the Washington Wizards Radio Network.
Change on the dial:
In Washington, Wizards basketball can be found Tuesday on the radio on 1050 AM or 1580 AM. HD Radio 95.5-3 or 106.7-2.
As always you can listen for FREE online:
The Knicks are playing well despite missing five players (Kenyon Martin, Marcus Camby, Kurt Thomas, Amar’e Stoudemire and Rasheed Wallace). As crazy as it sounds, this might be the healthiest the Knicks have been all season.
Martin is listed as questionable for Tuesday’s game. Martin has missed the last
two with a knee injury.
Camby is doubtful for Tuesday’s game as he continues to battle a foot injury.
Thomas, Stoudemire and Wallace likely will not return until at least the
York is winning the season series with the Wizards 2-1. The last time these two
teams met up was on March 1 in Washington. Carmelo Anthony led the
Knicks with 30 points followed by Raymond Felton with 23. New York outscored
the Wizards 23-11 in the fourth quarter. Bradley Beal scored a career high 29
points, going four of seven from three.
Smith has played amazing basketball coming off the bench in the last month. In his
last 15 games, Smith is averaging 22.5 PPG on 47 percent shooting. Smith is
playing aggressively, attacking the basket more, and earning an average of 7.2
free throws per game.
